ARMORIAL BOX & COUNTERS FOR ARCHDALE (ARCHDALL)(L7)             £ 6500
Another new addition - an armorial lacquer box on elevated metal feet, containing 117 original large size armorial gaming counters, all made in around 1790 for the Archdale family ( also spelt Archdall) of Castle Archdall, County Fermanangh. Full heraldic detail available - including an appraisal by Harry M. Allice of Montrea, Canadal. Full matching set of games trays. The counters are spectacular -large size, super m-o-p with a rare scrolling foliage type border. They have the full arms, crest and motto to one side and the  crest repeated to the reverse with the monogram BA in 'Old English' script with the A  looking like a reversed 'R'. There is some wear to the top of the lid but the box and counters display superbly.
